Our Levels

From beginner to advanced

Four progressive levels aligned with the CEFR, from A1 to B2.

A1 - adult learners in a German class.

A1

German A1 (beginner) course

  • · Indicative duration: about two months per level (A1, A2, B1, B2).
  • · Pace: ~20 class hours per week (depending on group and slot).
  • · Indicative fee for this level: 100,000 XAF (payment plan confirmed at enrolment).

No registration fee — course fees only.

At A1 you start from scratch: greetings, introductions, everyday vocabulary (café, directions, shopping), and first grammar patterns. The focus is on speaking and understanding simple messages.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions for immediate needs.
  • Introduce yourself and ask/answer simple personal questions.
  • Handle very short exchanges when people speak slowly and help you.
A2 - adult learners in a German class.

A2

German A2 (elementary) course

  • · Indicative duration: about two months per level (A1, A2, B1, B2).
  • · Pace: ~20 class hours per week (depending on group and slot).
  • · Indicative fee for this level: 110,000 XAF (payment plan confirmed at enrolment).

No registration fee — course fees only.

A2 consolidates daily life: short stories about the past, simple plans, clearer instructions, and richer vocabulary and tenses.

What you will be able to do

  • Exchange on familiar topics and routine tasks.
  • Describe your environment, needs, and immediate reactions in typical situations.
  • Understand the gist of clear, simple messages on concrete topics.
B1 - adult learners in a German class.

B1

German B1 (intermediate) course

Common benchmark for visa / employment dossiers: confirm the exact level required for your pathway.

B1 targets autonomy: follow conversations on familiar matters, give simple opinions, write short structured texts. It is often the minimum reference for visa or job dossiers - always confirm the exact requirement with your authority.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the main points of standard speech on familiar matters.
  • Deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling or in routine work contexts.
  • Write simple connected text on topics that are familiar.
B2 - adult learners in a German class.

B2

German B2 (upper intermediate) course

  • · Pace: ~20 class hours per week (depending on group and slot).
  • · Indicative fee for this level: 120,000 XAF (payment plan confirmed at enrolment).

No registration fee — course fees only.

B2 sharpens precision: argue with nuance, understand denser texts, interact with native speakers with less strain. Useful for university tracks, some competitive exams, or demanding roles.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics.
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible.
  • Produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects.

Frequently asked questions - German courses

Indicative information; our team confirms schedule and fees when you enrol.

Where do I start if I have never studied German?

You start at A1: beginner group, steady pace, focus on speaking and listening. A free placement test can also guide you if you already have some background.

Are classes online?

Classes are in person in Bafoussam in small groups, with homework and practice on our mobile app between sessions.

Does the course fee include the official exam (ÖSD, Goethe, TELC)?

No: the course package covers teaching, internal assessments, and exam preparation. Official exam fees are charged separately when you register for a certification session.

What are internal exams for?

They track progress (listening, speaking, grammar, writing) and help adjust pace. They do not replace an official diploma required by an embassy or university.

What if I fail an assessment or miss many classes?

Depending on our academic rules, you may retake part of the programme; extra months may be billable. We support you to stay on track.

Can I join A2 or B1 if I studied elsewhere?

Yes, with credible proof of study or after a free placement test at the institute so the group level stays coherent.

What are the main German language centers in Cameroon?

In Cameroon, learners can choose among Goethe-Institut Yaoundé, Sprachlernzentrum (SLZ) Douala, IBS-ÖSD Cameroon (Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam), Institut de Langue Allemande (ILA) Douala, Deutschakzent-Akademie Douala, LCE-Cameroon online, and ILC Institut Bafoussam. Each center focuses on different certifications (Goethe, TELC, ÖSD, TestDaF) and cities.

Where can I take Goethe, TELC, or ÖSD exams in Cameroon?

Goethe exams are run by Goethe-Institut Yaoundé and SLZ Douala. ÖSD sessions are held at IBS-ÖSD Cameroon campuses. TELC Digital and TestDaF digital are available through accredited centers such as ILA Douala or partner sites listed by the certificate issuers. ILC Institut in Bafoussam prepares for Goethe, TELC, and ÖSD and guides you to the right exam session for your visa or university file.
